Timor-Leste Carmelite, Fr Roque Soares Da Cruz, has written the lyrics for the official song to be used during the visit of Pope Francis to Timor-Leste in September this year. Called, ‘Waiting for the Holy Father” the song is about waiting for the Holy Father with faith, hope, love and joy.
The Pope is due to touch down in Dili on the afternoon of 9 September. Around 700,000 people are expected to attend the Pope’s mass the next day. Another Carmelite, Fr Carlito Da Costa Araújo, is in charge of organising and training more than 1000 volunteers for the Mass.
Fr Roque is well known for his musical skills and has been involved in numerous music projects, both sacred and secular. He features on a number of albums produced in Indonesia and Timor-Leste over the years.
