Today Brother Sean Keefe celebrates 50 years of Carmelite life. Since he made his first profession of vows as a Carmelite in 1967, Br Sean's journey has taken him to many places and seen him do everything from looking after chooks to teaching and student welfare in Carmelite schools and community involvement.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Br Sean has been working at Whitefriars College as a teacher and chaplain since 2001 and heavily involved in fund-raising and support for Timor-Leste since 2004.
His contribution to community involvement was recognised in 2011 when he was named 'Citizen of the Year' by Manningham Council. Last year, Sean's involvement both in the Manningham area and his service to the people and the Carmelites in Timor-Leste was recognised when he received the Order of Australia Medal.
On Sunday 20 August Carmelites and friends gathered at Whitefriars College to celebrate Sean's anniversary Mass. Congratulations, Sean! Read more about Br Sean.
