Br Januario Pinto was ordained a deacon by Archbishop Denis Hart on Saturday 19 November at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Middle Park.
Januario has been studying in Australia since 2013 and completed his Bachelor of Theology degree this year. After some pastoral ministry as a deacon in his home parish of Luro (Timor-Leste) Januario will return to Australia to continue his studies towards a Masters degree in Theology.
Januario made his first profession of vows as a Carmelite in 2009 and his Solemn Profession in 2015. He hopes to be ordained a priest in Luro next year.
Among the Carmelites present at the ordination were: Frs Paul Cahill (Prior Provincial), Hugh Brown (Parist Priest), David Hofman (Formator), Maurice Barry, Matthew McPhee, Pat Harney,Michael, Brundell, Paul Sireh, Martinho Da Costa, Brs Sean Keefe, Leo Richmond, Agedo bento, Martinho Da Cruz Lemos, Albino Dos Santos and Matthew Tonini.
