On Friday 29 August 1975, 2 Carmelites, Frs Paul Chandler and Hugh Brown, were ordained priests at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Wentworthville (NSW).

On Friday 29 August 2025 Fr Paul celebrated his Golden Jubilee of Priesthood at Holy Spirit Seminary, Banyo (QLD) together with Fr Ordmond Rush, two much-loved staff and lecturers.

During the celebration, Fr Neil Muir (Rector) expressed gratitude for their service and wished them many more years of fruitful ministry. ‘We are truly blessed to have these wise and faithful priests who have dedicated so much of their ministry to educating and forming the future of the Church’. The seminarians also joined in the celebration, offering short speeches of thanks and appreciation for ‘these two remarkable priests’.

Fr Paul has taught seminarians, lay people and members of the Carmelite Family during his years of ministry. He has also been Spiritual Director of the seminarians at Holy Spirit for many years, a consultant at the Carmelite Institute in Rome and spoken at many international Carmelite courses and gatherings.
