Br Antonio Olavio Exposto, OCarm, has been serving in Zumalai parish for the past 22 years. Last Sunday, 28 September, the parish held a Mass of Thanksgiving for his life and work during which his contribution to many aspects of the parish and its people was acknowledged.
As Carmelites, we carry out the mission of Jesus Christ in accordance with Carmelite Spirituality and Charism. During his time in the parish, Br Antonio has been working with young men and women. He also oversaw the building and expansion of the boarding house which now houses 28 students while they attend school. Br Antonio has served as a teacher and principal of the Carmelite Primary Schools in Zumalai, Raimea, and Beco–Suai.
Although he is leaving Zumalai, the mission he has undertaken will continue to thrive through the efforts of other Carmelites building on the foundations established by Antonio. Father Amandio Soares Salsinha, OCarm, will take over as principal of Carmelite Schools in Zumalai, Raimea, and Beco-Suai.
Thank you for all the richness you have brought to the Carmelite Mission in Zumalai and best wishes for your time of sabbatical and rest.
