A large crowd of parishioners, fellow-students, members of the Timorese community, Carmelite Nuns, Lay Carmelites and religious filled Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Middle Park (Vic) for the Ordination of Br Anacleto Guterres Da Costa to the Diaconate.
The ceremony, on 20 July, was led by Bishop Anthony Ireland, Auxiliary Bishop for the Southern Region of the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Also present in the sanctuary were Fr Bruce Clark (Prior Provincial), Fr Paul Cahill (Parish Priest), Fr Narcizio Da Costa Vilanova (Anacleto’s brother) together with Diocesan, Carmelite and other religious priests. The Naroman Timorese choir led the singing during the Preparation of the Gifts and Holy Communion. Timorese musicians also led the singing and dancing as the celebrations continued during refreshments after Mass.
