St Teresa of Ávila - Special Centenary Events

The Carmelite Centre Melbourne has released the program of events celebrating the 5th Centenary of the birth of St Teresa of Jesus who was born in Gotarrendura, Ávila, Spain on 28 March 1515.

A Symposium on St Teresa will be held on 21-23 May featuring sessions by Fr Greg Burke, OCD, David Tacey, Carmelite Sisters, Kew, Adrian Jones, Vicente Perez de Leon, Katharine Massam and concluding with a retreat on St Teresa’s ‘four waters of prayer’ on the Saturday morning with Bernadette Micallef, ocds.

Dr Anne Hunt will also present a lecture, Learning from the Mystics - Reflections on St Teresa of Ávila, on Wednesday 14 October. Professor Hunt is Dean of Theology and Philosophy at Australian Catholic University.
