On 7 January Fr Bruce Clark (Prior Provincial) admitted 9 young Carmelites in Timor-Leste to the ministries of Lector (Reader) and Acolyte (Server). The ceremony was help during mass at the Carmelite Community, Hera.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God in liturgical assemblies, instruct adults and children in the faith and prepare them to receive the sacraments. Acolytes assist the priest during the celebration of the Eucharist, holding the Missal, preparing the altar and the vessels and cleaning them after Communion. They may also distribute Communion if necessary. For those preparing for Priesthood in the Church, receiving these ministries is another step on their journey to Ordination.
The brothers who received the ministry of Lector were: Brs Virgilio De Jesus Brites, Honorio Pereira Bobo Lobato, Ponciano Norberto De Deus and Nataçio De Jesus Maia.
Brs Calisto Pereira Rodriguês, Pedro Rodriguês Ximenes, Aleixo Coli De Deus, Zebedeu De Jesus Vidigal and Gaudencio Do Rosario received the ministry of Acolyte.
Congratulations to these brothers on taking these steps towards Ordination.
