Two Carmelites to be Ordained

2017OJPWeb200With thanks to God the Carmelites of Australia & Timor-Leste announce that Brs Januario Pinto and Pedro Amaral will be ordained priests on 29 July in Luro, Timor-Leste. Bishop Basilio do Nascimento will celebrate the Ordination Mass and Januario and Pedro will celebrate Masses of Thanksgiving the following day. As Deacons, Januario has been ministering in Port Melbourne/Middle Park Parish (VIC) and Pedro in Maubisse Parish (T-L). We congratulate Januario and Pedro and accompany them with our prayerful support as they prepare for ordination.

CFTEWeb200June 18 marks the second anniversary of the release of Laudato Si’, On Care for Our Common Home. Leaders of all major religions stood shoulder to shoulder with Pope Francis as he announced his encyclical. One world leader stands alone in his ignorance regarding climate change, Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States.

RPMFPWeb200Fr Ron Wallis, an ordained Anglican priest who has come to the Catholic Church under the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, made his Final Profession in the Third Order of Carmelites. Fr Paul Cahill (Prior Provincial) was the celebrant of the Mass and received Fr Ron's Profession. Fr Paul was accompanied by Marion Haigh who represented Christine Wade (Moderator).

Fr Ron has subsequently been elected Prior of the Rockhampton Lay Carmelite Community. Full story & more photos.

Fatima Statue visits Zumalai

2017VOFSTZWeb200On the eve of the centenary of Our Lady’s appearances at Fatima the statue of Our Lady of Fatima visited Blessed Titus Brandsma boarding house in Zumalai, Timor-Leste.

The visit was part of an annual program of visits to different parishes, villages and houses in Maliana Diocese. The boarding house is part of the Carmelite parish centre at Zumalai and provides accommodation for boys from outlying villages so that they can attend school in Zumalai.

Br Martinho to make Solemn Vows

2017MDCLSPWeb200With great joy the Carmelites of Australia & Timor-Leste announce that Br Martinho Da Cruz Lemos will make his Solemn Profession of Vows (life commitment) on Saturday 15 July at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Middle Park, Vic.

Martinho joined the Carmelites in 2007 in Zumalai, Timor-Leste, making his first profession of vows in 2010. He arrived in Australia in 2013 to further his English language studies and to study Theology at the University of Divinity, Melbourne, Vic. Our congratulations and prayers are with Martinho as he prepares for his Solemn Profession.
